In April 2018, the show's creators confirmed the series would end after Season 5, however, the series itself had already confirmed this several months earlier. In Season 4, Episode 3, Rogelio complains that a new character can't be introduced "three-fifths" of the way through the show which is a reference to the introduction of the Adam character. At the beginning of Season 4, Jane the Virgin was exactly three-fifths of the way through it's 5-season run.
