Legacy created the look for Savant by applying subtle scars on Rooker's face to represent his violent past. The scars were realized with thin Pros-Aide transfers. Shane says, "It was basically a very subtle makeup job. He has a very distinctive voice and a very distinctive face. So you have fun working with the scars." Producer Simon Hatt adds about the character's development, "That long white, eighties-rock hair, glam-metal look is something that James decided to keep." In the comics, Savant was seen wearing a long-sleeved red coat and the film reflects that. "That's part of Judianna's process when she brings the costumes in."
