Madoka's wish ends with three sentences that are almost word for word from Sadako Sasaki's (1943-1955) Memorial Statue, who lived through the Hiroshima Bombing in 1945. Sadako is remembered for her attempt to fold a thousand origami cranes before her death, a wish which was memorialized in popular culture.
