The scene where Tom and Huck ultimately defeat Injun Joe was shot at the back end of the cave's main entrance. The chasm was really a temporary film set. This prop was ten feet high and twenty feet wide. For his scene of fatally falling into the chasm, filmmakers had Eric Schweig stand on a metallic frame with a green screen covering it up. He landed on multiple cushions also concealed by a green screen.
