At the end of the first Descendants (2015), Mal ends the movie by saying, "you didn't think this was the end of the story, did you?" At the end of Descendants 2 (2017), Uma, in sea witch form, says the same line, possibly foreshadowing a third film, that was eventually confirmed in February 2018.
