At the time of release, Leroy is still a DLC character and doesn't have any involvement in the Tekken games plot. This was his first appearance that ties into the Tekken lore, outside of his game win endings. This is the only character that this is the case for, meaning his role in the story and characterisation were mostly made for this series, whereas all other characters have history within the game story.
