Renard (Robert Carlyle), Viktor Zokas' nom de guerre, is French for "fox". This reflects the first draft of the character, who was French and named "Claude Serrault". His pain-killing brain injury was written for Richard Stamper (Götz Otto) in Il domani non muore mai (1997) and used in that movie's novelization.
