Jeff Daniels was scheduled to film The Five People You Meet in Heaven (2004) when Il calamaro e la balena (2005) was set to start production. The beard Jeff Daniels has in The Five People You Meet In Heaven, which doesn't necessarily fit his character in that film, is there only because Noah Baumbach insisted Daniels' character in The Squid and the Whale should have had a beard.
