While combining various aspects of MechaGodzillas past, the fact that it's controlled by a human linking their consciousness to the remnants of a kaiju, basically drifting with it, and is decked out to the teeth to take down kaiju specifically brings to mind the Jaegers from Pacific Rim. It even has the hand pulse blasters Gypsy Danger has. It soon going on a rampage due to the remnants of Ghidorah hijacking it also brings to mind the Kaiju brain-controlled Jaegers of Pacific Rim: Uprising. There's also remarkable similarities to the situation with Megatron/Galvatron in Transformers: Age of Extinction. There and in Godzilla vs. Kong, the consciousness of the previous film's Big Bad (Megatron/Ghidorah) survives in a thought-harmless decapitated head and goes on to take over a powerful new mechanical body (Galvatron/Mechagodzilla) created for use against its own kind, becoming a renewed threat to humanity. Both are even defeated in Hong Kong to boot. It's also possible to draw comparisons between it and the DC Extended Universe's version of Doomsday; both were made with the remains of the main heroes' archenemies with the specific purpose of killing them. Not to mention it drives both clashing heroes of their respectives VS movies to work together to best him and with a unique glowing weapon at that.
