Although Vanna White has been on the show regularly as the letter turning hostess, she did not host an episode until December 9, 2019, when regular host Pat Sajak took a three-week hiatus to recover from surgery. Prior to that, White and Sajak switched places for a single round in 1996 when Sajak had laryngitis. Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumed characters filled in as letter revealers for the first two weeks, and Sajak's daughter Maggie Sajak after that.
