In a curious piece of casting "coincidence", Joseph Long had previously played a character in a restaurant, also named Luigi, in series 5, episode 3 of the ITV Studios version of "Agatha Christie's Poirot" entitled "The Yellow Iris". In theory, this connection could now bring the entire Hercule Poirot canon into the Gene Hunt "universe", as its a related crime/police procedural.
