At the same time she signed on to Blossom, Mayim Bialik's fame began to skyrocket, and she signed to star in the FOX Sitcom Molloy. Once FOX aired Molloy as a summer try-out in 1990, while NBC aired the Blossom pilot as a special at the same time. Ultimately, with Bialik freed up following the cancellation of Molloy, NBC decided to go ahead with Blossom as a regular series.
