After Paramount released a Japanese trailer featuring Sonic as a baby, many accused the studio of riding the coattails of the success of "Baby Yoda" from The Mandalorian (2019). However, since Baby Sonic was likely planned months in advance and The Mandalorian only premiered in November 2019, around the time the film would've originally been released had it not been delayed.
