This is not the first time Hollywood has portrayed Egyptian Mythological gods on screen. In American Gods (2017) Egyptian gods such as Horus, Anubis and Thoth are portrayed, and the film Gods of Egypt (2016) tells a story from Ancient Egyptian mythology which features Osiris, Horus, Ra and many other Egyptian gods, and received backlash for not casting any Egyptian actors to play any of these roles. But this is the first time the Moon God Khonshu is represented on screen, Voiced by F. Murray Abraham and performed by Egyptian-American filmmaker Karim El Hakim.
