While the film's songs do appear, this is in fact the first Disney animated feature film to not contain any musical elements. Starting with Tarzan (1999) (which also only includes songs in the background), all films in the Disney animated classics lineup will not be musicals, with the exceptions of The Princess and the Frog (2009), Tangled (2010), Winnie the Pooh (2011), Frozen (2013), Moana (2016), Frozen II (2019), and Encanto (2021).
