Professor Sebastian, Attila, and Hun make a cameo during The World of Pokémon scene, with a captured Rayquaza. Brendan, the male character from Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire, also makes a cameo at the beginning of the movie, controlling a Swampert. This may be a nod to the rival's Pokémon having a type advantage over the main character's in the games (in this case, May's Combusken).
