Scorsese simplified the Air France robbery by creating an "inside man". In reality, the chief of security was required to keep the key on him at all times, including at home. The criminals set the man up with an "escort" who took the key from the man's pocket during one of their regular trysts, with the key being copied and returned without the man finding out.
