Creator Sid Krofft and Rip Taylor had been friends for years, but this was their first time working together. It went so well that Taylor was brought in to basically play the wacky neighbor in The Brady Bunch Variety Hour (1976), and he later made a guest appearance on Pryor's Place (1984).
