When Aragorn reveals himself to Sauron through the palantir, Sauron speaks the Elvish phrase "silivren penna miriel". This comes from the poem "A Elbereth Gilthoniel", which appears in the books, and means "white-sparkling, falling down jewel". Seconds later, the Evenstar jewel falls from Aragorn's neck and shatters on the floor.
