Right after the reveal that Shaw is pregnant with an alien fetus, David comments it must feel like Shaw's god has abandoned her since Holloway died under similar circumstances to her father's death, who is then revealed to have died from Ebola. Depending on how one views the scene, it could be implied that either her father died from Ebola, or was infected by Ebola and was immolated, like Holloway, in order to prevent an outbreak.
