Things between Manoj Kumar and Moushumi Chatterjee went very bad after Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. In a interview with Cineblitz magazine in 1984, Moushumi talked about a few incidents that led to her being taken out of Kranti. One day Moushumi was shooting at Rajkamal Studios. Manoj Kumar entered Moushumi's make up room and signaled Moushumi's hair dresser to leave the room. Manoj asked Moushumi if she had seen his new movie Dus Numbri. She replied no and he insisted she come see the film at a trial showing. Moushumi came late for the trial and noticed that Manoj left a seat empty between himself and his wife Shashi. Moushumi reluctantly sat in her seat. During the film she noticed that Manoj Kumar had started playing footsie with her. She was stunned and felt very uncomfortable. She was not attracted to Manoj and only looked at him as a colleague. Moushumi finally excused herself and walked out. After that Moushumi would keep getting calls from Manoj at odd hours of the night. Finally one day he called and invited her to Oberoi Towers hotel to discuss her role in Kranti. She told Manoj that they discussed Roti Kapda Aur Makaan on the phone, why could they not do the same from Kranti ? She told Manoj she was not comfortable would not come to see him. He immediately invited her to his house the next Friday for dinner. She found it strange Manoj told her to come alone and did not invite Moushumi's husband Babu. She told Babu that something did not feel right. Babu told Moushumi that perhaps Manoj wanted to narrate the film with out him there. Moushumi was still not feeling comfortable with the situation so she called Manoj Kumar's house.Moushumi asked for Manoj's wife Shashi. Manoj answered the phone and told her his wife was gone for 1 week. He was home alone. Finally Friday came and she told Manoj that she was not coming to his house. That was the end for her role in Kranti. Sarika was later signed for the role.
