The original script of the film featured some more interaction between Tatum and Billy while in the final version, they rarely interact at all. Specifically, the scene at Tatum's locker in school the day after Sidney's attack originally included Billy. After spotting Billy in the crowd, Tatum questions what he is doing there, to which Sidney responded that Billy was probably angry. Tatum then tells Sidney to ignore him and that she had every reason to do what she did. Then, when Billy approaches them, he asks Sidney if they can talk. However, Tatum intervenes and tells Billy that if she were accused of killing two people, she would skip school. Stu then tells Tatum to go easy on Billy since he was innocent at the time. Then, after Sidney gets spooked by the prankster and runs off, Billy goes to follow her but Tatum again intervenes and tells Billy to stay away from Sidney.
