According to visual effects supervisor John Bruno, about $35 million (one sixth of the budget) was spent on the Golden Gate sequence. This included constructing a full-scale section of the bridge that was about the size of a basketball court (ninety-four feet), and then using computer graphics imagery on the rest of the bridge and its background.
