Since this was being released for the first time, the absence of a pre-sold audience meant that the odds would be stacked against the series right from the beginning, perhaps even more than a single manga adaptation could overcome. So instead there would be three, from three different publishers (Akita Shoten, Tokuma Shoten and Asahi Sonorama).
