After the Australian shoot, key members of the film company then traveled to Turkey, where their numbers were bolstered by a local crew. Actor-director Russell Crowe admitted: "I was nervous about leaving the familiar territory of Australia and directing in a foreign country with language barriers and other inherent challenges, but I found the language of filmmaking is universal, and the Turkish crews were excellent in every department."
