Despite later versions and spin-offs, including both of the live action films, showing that he did, Barney Rubble was never once shown to have worked for the Slate & Co. quarry alongside Fred in the original series. However, Barney did have leadership over Fred once, after Mr. Slate realized they were closely blood-related but unknown to each other for a long time, (like uncle and nephew) in Gli antenati: Fred's New Boss (1962).
