The visual effect of the balloon seller's shadow being much larger (and more ominous) then in reality has been used many times since this film. Notable examples include Star Trek: Catspaw (1967) and Star Trek: Plato's Stepchildren (1968) from Star Trek (1966) as well as the Looney Tunes classic, Cane all'Opera (1957)
