During the screenplay development on first film there were some versions which skipped the story of first game and instead went with different storylines more similar to the Raccoon City events from sequels. One of the scripts had STARS team being sent to Raccoon City and battling monsters and zombies created by T-virus outbreak, and there was one which was written as more of a horror film with much darker tone and lot of scenes more appropriate for low budget horror, including way more graphic violence and gore and numerous nude scenes with female characters including Jill Valentine.
