Andrew Dominik told during Blonde's press conference at the 79th Venice Film Festival that the initial scenes of the movie were shot in the same apartment where Marilyn Monroe lived with her mentally ill mother. He also said that Monroe's death scene was shot in the same room where she died in real life. Production for the film even began on the anniversary of Monroe's death, on August 4, 2019.
