The melody of the background music present when Mike first enters the university is based directly on the traditional Anglican hymn, "All Things Bright And Beautiful". Movie songs inspired by this hymn include Monty Python's "Every Sperm is Sacred" song from Monty Python - Il senso della vita (1983), which is essentially the same song. The school song for Faber University in Animal House (1978) is similar to the hymn without being a copy and it may be a more direct inspiration for the Monsters University school song.
