The CGI technique used at the epilogue to transform young Ryan (Matt Damon) in old Ryan (Harrison Young) is called "morphing". It was very popular in the 90s to be the same used in Terminator 2 - Il giorno del giudizio (1991) when the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) changes his own appearance to transform in any human being he want. It was used in music videos as Snoop Doggy Dogg: Who Am I? (What's My Name?) (1993).
