Bess Armstrong, who portrays Mrs Thorn, was around 62 when the episode in which she appeared aired. Lee Remick, who originated the role of Katherine Thorn in "The Omen" (1976) sadly died in July 1991 at the age of 55. Had she been able to appear in this episode, Lee Remick would have been aged 80 at the time that the episode aired. Instead, Bess Armstrong would have been 62 at the time that the episode aired. Despite the change in actress and difference in ages, the episode in which Mrs Thorn appears is filled with pathos as Damien works through what might have been. Bess Armstrong famously featured in "Jaws 3-D" (1983) as Dennis Quaid's co-star. Mrs Thorn's position when Damien encounters her is similar to the conclusions drawn by Robert Thorn's family in "Damien: Omen II" that Robert went insane, although it is presented to Damien that Katherine's death in "The Omen" may not have occurred at all.
