The reason why Maj. Kong climbs into the bomb bay is to manually hot-wire the bay doors to open, but when he rides the bomb down, his shouts would not have been heard due to the vacuum of the air being sucked out of his throat much akin to a skydiver. However, this does not matter from a fictional point of view.
