Though not shown nor mentioned in the film, sometime in 1975, Elvis Presley met and briefly dated actress and former beauty queen Diana Goodman. They met in Memphis while Diana was there for business. After a few unorthodox dates, they began dating. However, due to constant miscommunication and misunderstanding, as well as heavy interference from the Memphis Mafia, Elvis ended the relationship. A few years later, and after Elvis' passing, Diana would star alongside one of Elvis' former lovers, Linda Thompson, in Hee Haw (1969). During Elvis and Diana's brief affair, Linda was still living with him at Graceland, yet their relationship was coming to an end. Despite the initial awkwardness due to their connections to Elvis, the two women became friends. Interestingly, Diana was able to star in the show due to a chance encounter at a traffic stop with Steve Binder, the director of the Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968).
