Kevin Spacey appeared in this movie shortly after winning the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in I soliti sospetti (1995), and appearing in a John Grisham adaptation (Il momento di uccidere (1996)). Gene Hackman also won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Gli spietati (1992), also directed by Clint Eastwood, shortly before appearing in a John Grisham adaptation (Il socio (1993)). In Unforgiven (1992), Hackman beat Richard Harris' character nearly to death, and in this movie, Spacey kills a character played by Jude Law. Harris and Law played Albus Dumbledore. Hackman and Spacey played Lex Luthor.
