When this movie was released in U.K. cinemas in June 1967, a lot of the violence was censored despite being being given an "X" certificate (no one under 18 allowed). Clint Eastwood's beating was heavily trimmed, and particularly the Rojos gunning down the Baxters. The deaths of John, Antonio, and Consuelo Baxter were not seen. Also cut was Ramón coughing up blood. After he had killed Consuelo's husband and son, she curses Ramón, and hopes he dies "spitting blood"; her curse is fulfilled. A more complete version of this movie has been restored for DVD and Blu-ray.
