Very similar to the anime film Perfect Blue(1997). Both films revolve around a female dance performer trying to be perfect but are overtaken by illusions of death, themselves and emotions, they both question reality, they both try to become bad but they go through emotional tormenting to become perfect, and they are both shy and innocent, the films are Psychological horror, they revolve on the protagonists emotional journey to becoming perfect. The director Darren Aronofsky insists, that he didn't barrow inspiration from Perfect Blue but the films ended up being similar. Like with his previous film Requiem for a Dream, in one particular scene, Marion dunks her face in the bathtub and starts to scream, like what Mima did as well.
