In 2018, Dylan Neal commented on the show and his role of Doug Witter: "I'm so happy how things ended up between Jack [McPhee] and Doug and how fitting it was that they came together in the end to cement their love. It was a beautiful moment on a show that always treated gay rights and themes with great care and honesty at a time when other networks wouldn't go near it."
