Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are atheists, yet the scientific theory that is the basis for their careers (and the show's title) "The Big Bang Theory" was actually proposed and developed by a Catholic priest, Father Georges Lemaître. In 1933, Albert Einstein and Father Lemaître met at Caltech (which is where Sheldon, Howard and Leonard work on the show). When Lemaître presented his theory, Einstein stood up and applauded.
