Episode 1219 is the only episode where, as far as anyone knows, there is no existing video. However, thanks to a fan recording the audio of all but the beginning of the opening narration when it first aired, the episode was reconstructed by MPI Home Video in 1993. This was achieved by using the audio recording (except the opening narration), video of the last scene from Episode 1218 (which was reenacted at the beginning of the lost episode), still photos of the cast members as the characters they portrayed in the episode, with the exception of actor Colin Hamilton, who portrayed the doctor (luckily, extreme closeup stills of a character that he portrayed earlier in the series were able to be used) and video of the opening scene of Episode 1220 (which was a reenactment of the last scene of the lost episode). Also, Lara Parker, who portrayed Catherine Harridge in the lost episode, was the host of the reconstructed episode, providing on video the narration, summarizing each scene before hand. She also re-recorded the opening narration (originally spoken by Keith Prentice, who portrayed Morgan Collins in the lost episode and who died a year prior to the reconstruction of Episode 1219), as the very beginning of the episode was not captured by the fan who recorded the audio. The closing credits are also reconstructed, with a still photo of the grandfather clock in the Collinwood foyer. The font used for the closing credits is slightly different from the font that was used for the regular closing credits of the series, and the names of the cast members were displayed above the characters that they portrayed, a reversal of how this was displayed in the regular closing credits of the series. Most of the crew members who worked on this lost episode were also displayed, with Jim Pierson, the host segment producer for the Lara Parker narration portion, added to the closing credits. However, the Dan Curtis Productions, Inc. logo and copyright years were done exactly as it was displayed in the series, with two copyright years shown, 1971 (the year the episode was originally taped and aired) and 1993 (the year the episode was reconstructed by MPI Home Video). The Sci-Fi Channel (now ScyFy) aired an abridged version of this reconstructed episode when it carried Dark Shadows (1966), showing only the final scene of Episode 1218, the Lara Parker narration segments, and the opening scene of Episode 1220. The remainder of the half-hour consisted of interesting interview clips by Dan Curtis and Lela Swift.
