Timothy Olyphant was only cast in the film after he was fired from Amori & incantesimi (1998) and replaced by Aidan Quinn. His manager was desperate to find him another role and he was cast at the last minute as Todd Gaines. He ended up staying in his same LA hotel room that had been booked originally for him for "Practical Magic" while filming "Go."
