When King Richard approaches Balian at the end of the film, he is wearing a surcoat with two lions rampant combatant, (on their rear legs facing each other.) Although Richard I is usually associated with three lions, passant-guardant, (horizontal with the right paw up,) he didn't adopt that seal until 1198. Since he joined the Third Crusade in 1191, (about the time of this scene) Richard I was still using two lions on his Great Seal and Arms, which was adopted in 1189.
