Amber goes into the basement alone, despite knowing a killer is on the loose. Much like Stu in the first Scream (1996), she has no reason to worry as she is one of the killers. Later, Richie says "I'll be right back" before going into the basement to get a beer. Again, like Stu, he doesn't have anything to worry about. Later, he comes back and tries to kill Mindy in much the same way Randy was almost killed in the first film; Amber, like Stu in the first movie, tries to fake being injured to Sidney and Gale, but this time, Sidney doesn't fall for it.
