Throughout the series "Kalakaua Avenue" is mentioned (Steve and Danny have chased people on Kalakaua Avenue). Kalakaua is Kono's last name, and also the name of the penultimate monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, King David Kalakaua, who reigned from February 12, 1874 - January 20, 1891.
