The opening sequence features "Lascia ch'io pianga" ("Let me weep") from George Frideric Handel's "Rinaldo" which is a story of love, war and redemption, set at the time of the First Crusade. The aria is a heartfelt plea for her liberty addressed by the character Almirena to her abductor Argante.
