John, Ted, and Samantha discovering the marijuana field re-creates a scene from Jurassic Park (1993), in which Alan and Ellie first see a dinosaur. John saying the weed shouldn't be there references Ellie discussing how a plant she found has been extinct. Ted moving John's head re-creates Alan turning Ellie's head. Then the theme from the scene plays, and like in Jurassic Park (1993), Ted is amazed to see "They do move in herds", which was a line Alan said.
