No credit is given to celebrated Jamaican composer Carlos Malcolm for the considerable amount of scoring and arrangements he contributed to the Dr. No soundtrack; all are listed as uncredited or credited to other musicians who worked on the film.. Several articles attest to his disappointment over this slight and that Monty Norman (nee Noserovitch) and Vic Flick both claim authorship to the iconic James bond guitar lick, penned by Carlos Malcolm. However, copyrighted intellectual property laws were not implemented in the Caribbean until 1976.
