Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro are the only two actors to ever win separate Oscars for playing the exact same character. Brando won Best Actor for Il padrino (1972) and De Niro won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Il padrino - Parte II (1974), both in the role of Vito Corleone. (Coincidentally, neither actor was present to accept the award.) However, Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix both won Oscars for playing two different versions of the same character in two separate movies. Ledger won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for playing The Joker in Il cavaliere oscuro (2008), and Phoenix won Best Actor for playing The Joker in Joker (2019).
