Ted (Josh Radnor) and his friends regularly go to MacLaren's Pub, which is a bar right below Ted's apartment. The pub was named after Carl MacLaren, who is the associate producer and assistant to Carter Bays. The owner of MacLarens, Carl, is also named after him.
