When Luke Skywalker flashes back to his attempt to kill Ben Solo it harkens back to Star Wars: Rebels: Shroud of Darkness (2016). In "Shroud", Kanan Jarrus has a vision in the Jedi Temple in Lothal. He encounters a temple guard who tells him that Ezra Bridger is too powerful, will be enticed by the dark side, and must be destroyed.
